Thats just it though, from all testing and CCP statements we know that audio quality is below or just about on equal with Teamspeak.

If people want to pay for a subpar service when there are cheaper, better options available.. go ahead. I'll stick with Vent, thanks.

Edit: Someone point out these "nice features" to me please. Because so far all I see is pitfalls and negative points. I want to be able to use VOIP, really I do but not with the current audio quality.

I'd personally prefer to have VoIP bandled in rather than a seperate client for it but unless you get like a 90%+ take up on it i think it will be crap and less fleixble than other options. Also isn't this a crazy idea considering the issues we have with lag right now and this will be just another thing to tie up the cycles and bandwith of our precious new servers.

Well if its $10 per account then I will pass. I am not bothered by quality issues on TS and I do use Ventrillo ocassionally. I also like to be able to be doing some logistics duties on my alts while still being in TS in case I am needed.

Its not about the additional cost, but I dont see a reason to pay for something I will seldom use.

Personally i will subscribe to this service as the charge is fairly insignificant HOWEVER during ops i will continue to use vent, Ouf of game comms is vital considering the number of CTD's,LAG crashes, node crashes etc etc that occur when travelling around in a gang. Im not referring to myself just with what i have seen in my time in eve.

I still cannot fathom how Out of Game comms was left out of this release, surely they want they community to adopt this feature and a great way would be to provide a replacement to ts/vent aswell as all the new nify kewl gang features.

To often i hop onto vent to find out whats going on or just chat in general, and what about those long extended ops where everyone logs for an hour to grab food ?? am i going to have to resort to using MSN to communicate with my gang mates so we can co-ordinate and get going again without leaving people behind.

The idea is great, however it still lacks that grab factor!!!

And talking like a minmatar slave dog is not a grab factor for me.

all of that list can be acheived with teamspeak apart from seeing where the person talking is on the map but the odds are if hes talking with you in a channel hes very close to the area you are in.

probably be quicker just to say "where are you?" than it is to check the map anyway.

We run a ts server we had a member once that that seemed very nice on type. We let him on ts. OMG most people quit logging into ts because of this single person being so irritating.

Local voice? OMG imagine the smak talk. Again local imagine jita. if you want to move people out of the core systems local voice would take care of that hehe

Kids in the house? Well mutes will help this but at times not before the damage has been done.

OH well. I'll probably get it. I see advantages. Wonder if it's gonna work though with ts running in the background will be currious about that. With our group we have friends that log on to our ts frequently that don't and never have played eve but are still good friends and me nor my circle of friends will give that up.

You will pay for 1 voice account and you can use that voice account with any eve char/account.

Is the chat channel is Constellation wide, and you attack someone, all they have to do is scream over the Vivox service and all their mates within a 3 jump radius pile on the hapless pirate.

Also, what if you do get off a successful gank on someone...is there an option to mute them? Lets be honest here, some people can use a constant stream of harsh words, that you might not want to bother listening to.

How also are you going to filter out racist remarks, slurrs, and generally foul launguage over a voice channel?
